I grew up in Syracuse, New York, a small city where the average snowfall is nearly
ten feet per year. My father is a biotech research scientist, my mother a teacher and
hobbyist. I was homeschooled most of my childhood, a bold move on the part of my
family, and one which shaped my work ethics and unique perspectives as well as my
many flaws. From my father I learned never to be content simply knowing “what” but
always to ask “how” and “why.” From my mother I learned the vaule of craft, as well
as many obscure skills such as juggling, cake decorating, card magic, and the art of
stunt kite flying. From them both I inherit a love of books and the pursuit of knowledge.

As an artist, I am drawn to the power and beauty of the moving image. I'm always looking for something new and exciting to explore whether it's in cut-paper animation, unusual documentary subjects, or fictional drama. I work best as a collaborative partner, and I have several friends who I work well with.
